A passenger coach collided with a truck on National Highway near the Sanghi area of Sukkur, in Pakistan leaving at least 42 people dead and injuring several others, Express News reported on Sunday.
According to the police, the coach was travelling from Dera Ghazi Khan to Karachi.
At least five children are reportedly among the deceased while seven women have lost their lives in the accident.
Police and rescue teams have reached the site of the accident and a rescue operation is underway.
The injured are being taken to local hospitals for medical assistance.
Pakistan has one of the world’s worst records for fatal traffic accidents, blamed on poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving.
