Arrangement for public transport services for passengers who wish to commute outstation have been made.
For further information, News1st contacted the Chief Superintendent of Operations at the Sri Lanka Transport Board, H.M. Chandrasiri.
“SLTB buses will be in service for those passengers who wish to travel to their villages on Monday. After 12.30 p.m. on Sunday it was observed that there were less passengers than anticipated. Because it is the Sinhala and Tamil New Year we are not expecting a high turn out of passengers, however buses are on standby by in order to facilitate the passenger services will be provided in main cities and suburbs.”
When News1st contacted te Director of Railway Services, L.A.R. Ratnayake for further details with regard to railway services on Monday, he stated that railway services will be carried out as usual in order to facilitate the passengers. He went on to state however that no special train services will be in operation on Monday.
Meanwhile, forty complaints have been lodged with the SLTB with regard to private bus services during the New Year period.
The Complaint Unit of the board stated that out of these complaints, twenty complaints were related to over charging passengers.
Meanwhile, five complaints were related to non-issuance of bus tickets and three complaints were with regard to air-conditioning in transport.
The National Transport Commission said that complaints with regard to bus services can be lodged by calling 1955.
