Excavations in the Kuragala Kalthota Diyawinna area have revealed that the pre-historic man who engaged in hunting activities had also engaged in farming and agricultural activities as well.
The excavations in Kuragala Kalthota Diyawinna area, located in the Ratnapura District, is being spearheaded by Professor Raj Somadeva.
The main objective of the excavations are to confirm the preliminary work carried on by the Archaeology Department six years ago.
According to Professor Somadeva, much evidence has been discovered that establishes the fact that pre-historic man engaged in farming activities.
It was reported that significant evidence had been extracted from the rock tunnels in which the excavations are being carried out.
