The Police Media Spokesperson says that over the past two months 65 persons were arrested on suspicion of being involved in attempts to revive the LTTE.

Speaking to reporters in Colombo on Thursday, Senior Superintendent of Police Ajith Rohana revealed that five of the detainees were released and the remainder are being detained at detention centers gazetted by the Ministry of Defence.

On a separate note, it was also revealed at this media briefing that a special traffic plan will be enforced through-out the country with effect from Thursday. 135 persons have lost their lives in road accidents that took place between April 8 -12,  last year.

Police have also requested motorcyclists across the country to switch on their headlights during daylight hours as well.

SSP Rohana added that the measure which was first enforced in the Western Province has contributed to a reduction of accidents involving motorcycles.
