The generation of hydro-electricity has dropped to 12 percent.
Media Spokesman and Deputy General Manager of the Ceylon Electricity Board, Senajith Dassanayaka, said that the sources of water near the power plant have not been receiving an adequate supply of water.
He said that, as a result, they have had to resort to obtaining 85 percent of the daily electricity required from other sources such as coal and diesel power plants.
