Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Leader of the House, reiterates that the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, will never be allowed to intervene in the internal affairs of Sri Lanka.
He made this statement at an event held in Badulla on Sunday.
“There is the Geneva resolution. Why are we opposed to it? Because we have pride. We do not approve of external persons meddling with the internal affairs of our country. We cannot allow it. If there is a problem in our home, we must resolve it internally. If there is a problem in our country we must resolve it. That is why His Excellency the President and this government went to Geneva and battled against these international conspiracies and this resolution.”
He further stated:
“We fought in Sri Lanka too and we say clearly that let alone Madam Pillay, even Madam Pillay’s dog will not be allowed to come here and conduct investigations. Why do I say this? Because President Mahinda Rajapaksa is someone that we appointed to protect the independence of this country, its sovereignty, our pride and our national pride.”
