Today marks Day 8 of Around the world in 40 days – an epic journey across the globe, organised by News1st and Sri Lanka Youth, ahead of the World Conference on Youth.
This journey to various nations across five continents, grants a novel opportunity for the exchange of ideas with youth across the globe and an opportunity for the Sri Lankan delegates to observe youth activity in other countries.
The Sri Lankan delegates who kicked off their journey around the world on March 26, have thus far visited Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines and are now in China.
On Thursday the delegates arrived in Beijing, China, from the Philippines
The delegates visited the historic Tiananmen Square in Beijing which spans across a vast area 400,000 square metres, or 109 acres – the fourth largest city square in the world.
It is surrounded by many historic sites, including the Tiananmen Gate, the Mao Zedong Mausoleum, the Monument to the People’s Heroes and the Great Hall of the People.
