D.V. Upul who was a former minister of the Southern Provincial Council is due to be produced before the Tangalle Magistrate on Tuesday.

United People’s Freedom Alliance Southern Provincial council Candidate from the Hambantota District D.V. Upul who was arrested earlier on Tuesday, recently said that there is terror at large in the South.

“The group has broken in at around 2.30 in the morning and had opened fire using t56 firearms. An armed group is roaming the area. If murderers and deadshots are roaming the streets in a country where democracy has been established, I want to address these issues to the Defence Secretary as well as the Elections Commissioner. I request that the attention of the IGP be focussed on these groups who are roaming these streets with weapons.”
