Elections Commissioner says first day of postal voting was ‘peaceful’

According to Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya casting of postal votes for the upcoming Provincial council polls concluded for the day in a peaceful manner.

Postal votes were cast at over 4000 postal voting stations throughout the day on Thursday

One hundred twelve thousand three hundred twenty (112,320)  government sector employees were deemed eligible for postal voting privileges .

Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya added that necessary steps have been taken to allow state employees to cast postal votes during working hours on Friday as well.
