The Registrar General’s Department has decided to install CCTV cameras in their offices to avoid the racket of altered demarcations during land sales.
The Registrar General E.M. Gunasekara stated that accordingly, the number of officers at the inspection sites will be increased. In addition to this, he added that unnecessary visits by persons who claim to inspect demarcations will be avoided by increasing the rates from Rs.5 to Rs.500..
The Crimes Investigation Department has launched extensive investigations into the mass racket of illegal alterations of demarcations in land trading.
Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that investigations on 56 reported cases of demarcation alterations have already commenced.
