President Mahinda Rajapaksa met with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Myanmar on Tuesday.
This meeting is the first time President Rajapaksa met PM Manmohan Singh officially, after President Rajapaksa’s official three-day visit to India in 2012.
According to the official twitter handle of the president ( @PresRajapaksa) bilateral discussions are currently being held between His Excellency and PM Singh.
BIMSTEC or the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation, bring together representatives of 7 countries namely Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Thailand.
Fourteen key areas such as trade, development, technology, power and tourism are due to be discussed at the summit.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to address the summit on Tuesday.
