The Ministry of Education has arrived at a decision to educate school principals on what students should adhere to when using web interfaces such as Facebook.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Anura Dissanayaka said that in the first phase of the awareness programme, they will educate the principals of national schools in this regard. He said that a seminar will be conducted in Colombo for this purpose.
The principals will be made aware of the steps students should follow, both in and outside school, to ensure their safety when using the internet, as well as ways that they can overlook students when they do use the internet.
Additionally, the committees that are to be formed, centering schools, in order to ensure the safety of students, will be brought to the notice of principals.
