The Press Trust of India reports that Indian Shipping Minister G.K.Vasan has expressed statements which demand a review of the Indo-Sri Lankan agreement on Katchatheevu.

Indian Minister G.K. Vasan speaking to the media had stated that the fishing community as well as the public of Tamil Nadu state support a review of the agreement.

Earlier this week the AIADMK party in its manifesto stated that it will take necessary steps to retrieve Katchatheevu Island.

However, the Central Government is of the stance that Katchatheevu cannot be retrieved as no territory belonging to the India was ceded nor sovereignty relinquished to Sri Lanka .

Katchatheevu is an uninhabited island located around nine miles off south of the Delft Islands.
