Attorney-at-Law Maithri Gunaratne charges that the UNP leadership has taken steps to nominate thugs for the upcoming provincial council elections over party faithlfuls.
He made these allegations at a media briefing held Kathaluwe, Galle on Thursday.
Attorney- at-law, Maithri Gunaratne made following views.
“We still stand for UNP even though we were chased out of the party. We cannot wholeheartedly say to cast your votes for a different party. But what has this party done? What has Tissa Attanayake and Ranil Wickremesinghe on the Leadership Council said ? Nominations are given to thugs and robbers.”
“Public trust in the Leadership Council and the leader has deteriorated. This is the reason why majority of the UNP supporters wouldn’t even go to a polling station to cast their votes or cast their votes to other parties. We have to state clearly that party will only raise its head once again when the leader and the leadership council are removed. “
