The automated finger print system to identify those who engage in criminal activities was launched under the auspices of Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

The new system was unveiled at the Deyata Kirula programme in Kuliyapitiya.

The ceremony was graced by Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and IGP  N.K. Illangakoon. The system has been fed with the finger prints of nearly 390,000 individuals who were identified as criminals countrywide.

The software was designed by students of the Information Technology Division attached to the University of Colombo.
