A campaign rally of the Democratic Party was held in Narahenpita on Sunday.

A group including Colombo District candidates of the party,  led by party leader Sarath Fonseka, attended this rally.

Speaking at the rally,  Democratic Party Candidate for Colombo District Susil Kindelpitiya said: ”This party is four months old. Recently,  we saw how the number of seats of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party or the United People’s Freedom Alliance, reduced.”

“We saw, recently, how the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna was rejected by the people. My friends they gave us five seats and over 92,000  votes. My friends we did not get these votes by giving away bottles of arrack, lunch packets and mobile phones. We got these votes by going from village to village, from door to door and listening to the woes of the people.”

Leader of Democratic Party, Sarath Fonseka and Deputy Leader of Democratic Party MP Jayantha Ketagoda also addressed the gathering.
