JVP Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath notes that the challenges in Geneva can only be overcome by protecting  human rights and democracy: not by conducting elections.

He made this statement during a function held in the Seeduwa area.

Speaking at the function, Vijitha Herath said: “What did Navi Pillay say, if you shoot people in the South, people in Weliweriya who supported the army, then we can imagine how they treated the people in the North. They used examples such as Wanathamulla
and Weliweriya. What should we d , if we are to defeat it. We need to instill democracy within the country. There needs to be freedom inside the country. The Human Rights need to be protected. It  is then only that the foreigners will not be able to intervene in our matters. Can this be achieved with votes…..?”
