He was my first-born; I loved him with all my life, says mother of missing person

The Presidential Commission on missing persons convened at the Jaffna District Secretariat for the third day on Sunday.

Fifty four individuals gave evidence before the commission on Sunday.

Meanwhile,  245 relatives of missing persons lodged complaints at the commission on Sunday to find out information about them.

The wife of a prominent LTTE member and political advisor Yogaratnam Yogi also came before the Commission.

She said, we went to the Wattuvagal army controlled area and stayed there for the night. The previous night, the army used a sound device announcing that all LTTE members should surrender, and that if so, they would receive a public pardon.

My husband said he would surrender. a few others joined him. Father Joseph Francis also joined the group for their safety and he spoke English.

Their names were written down and they were taken towards Omanthai by bus.

Meanwhile, mother of a missing individual said, “He was my first-born. I loved him with all my life. Someone abducted  him, I don’t know who did it. How many mothers are weeping. Skeletons keep being discovered. No final rites were done for any of them.
