The government has decided to reduce the special commodity levy imposed on imported dhal  (red lentil) by Rs. 17.

The Ministry of Finance and Planning said that the levy imposed on imported dhal will be reduced to Rs.5, down from Rs.22  starting from Thursday.

Therefore, a kilogramme of dhal currently priced between Rs.130 and Rs.180 rupees will be reduced starting from midnight Wednesday.
