Today marks World Cancer Day. The theme for the year 2014 is Reduce stigma and dispel myths about cancer
Director of the National Cancer institute G. Paranagama expressed her views:
“Cancer is a disease which does not spread from person to person. It is common to high blood pressure and heart attacks. When a person is aging he/ she should take extra care of themselves and attend to their health needs. There are various campaigns organised throughout the island for this reason. Women should attend to glands which suddenly appear in parts of the body. When focussing on cancer which often appear in men, its the lung cancer and oral cancer. About 2/3 persons die per day due to lung cancer.”
If sudden glands appear in the body and whether is causes pain or not, Do not wait for too long. its best to attend to treatment.”
