Specialists from China to inspect equipment at Norochcholai

The Ministry of Power and Energy says that the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka has agreed to bring down specialists from the companies that manufactured the main equipment and other parts at the Norochcholai Power Station to inspect the equipment.

Issuing a media release, the Ministry said this agreement was reached at a discussion held on Tuesday.

According to this communique, officials from the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka met with Sri Lankan officials including the Minister of Power and Energy Pavithra Wanniarachchi, on Tuesday morning  on the instructions of the Chinese government.

The communique issued by the Ministry of Power and Energy notes that attention was focussed on the present state of the Norochcholai Coal Power Station during these talks.

The Chinese representatives had agreed during this talks, to render all necessary assistance to make the Norochcholai Power Station an efficient power station, as expected by the Chinese Government.

The Chinese representatives had agreed to assist Sri Lanka in getting the company responsible for construction to conduct repairs if there were any flaws during the construction of the power station.
