CIFL depositors say they were promised a meeting with the President

The CIFL Depositors’ Association says that an additional secretary to the President promised them an opportunity to carry out discussions with President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The Association is engaged in a Satyagraha Campaign opposite the Head Office of CIFL since the January 20. They staged a protest on Tuesday requesting for a meeting with President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The CIFL Depositors’ Association commenced a protest march on Tuesday morning. Several representatives from the opposition joined in the march.

The protest march commenced from the CIFL Head Office in Town Hall, Colombo and proceeded towards Temple Trees. The protest march was stopped by the police at the Colpetty Junction.

Subsequently, five representatives were permitted to enter the Presidential Secretariat for discussions.
