A ‘Shanthi Karma’ was held on Saturday afternoon to invoke blessings on students of the Gampaha district and to the nation.
Organised by the Gampaha District Education Zone the ‘Kohomba Kankariya’ Shanti Karma was held at the grounds of the Chandradoti Vidyala in Yakkala.
Speaking at the event, Attorney-at-Law, Susara Dinal stated,
“We have a proud heritage with many cultural aspects which cannot be found in any other country. However, with social and cultural development that we are undergoing we are moving away from many of these cultural heritages. Many young people are unable to witness the Yagas, Thovil and Shanthi Karmas. Therefore, I believe this venture to promote such cultural aspects among the younger generation is indeed praiseworthy.”
