UNP Parliamentarian, Sajith Premadasa, attended an event held in Angunukolapelessa on Sunday.

At the event, Sajith Premadasa expressed the following views:

“When there is a shortage of milk powder in this country, milk powder cannot be brought from abroad. But millions upon millions can be spent to hastily buy ten aeroplanes for Sri Lankan Airlines, which is going bankrupt. What has happened as a result of the haste to buy aircraft for Sri Lankan Airlines?”

He further stated,

The examination to recruit pilots have been sold for large amounts of money, secretively. In the event that unqualified pilots fly these aircraft that were bought for tens of millions, and some problem arises, then the passengers will have no hope. So for the passengers inside – it is ‘sorry’.

The event was held to present concessionary loans under the ‘Jana Suwaya’ programme, to about 100 women from the Uswewa area in Angunukolapelessa.
