A Victorian State Parliamentary delegation from Australia, who are currently visiting Sri Lanka, met with the Governor of the Eastern Province, Rear Admiral Mohan Wijeywickrema on Tuesday.

The meeting was held at the Office of the Governor of the Eastern Province.

The Governor of the Eastern Province had briefed the visiting Australian delegation extensively, on programmes undertaken by the government since the end of the war, with regard to the economy, education, health, agriculture and industrial development of the province.

Our reporter says that the Victorian State Parliamentary delegation had praised the growth that has been achieved in these sectors.

The delegates had noted that the intention of their visit was to ascertain the ground realities in Sri Lanka in the post-conflict era.

The issue of illegal migrants from Sri Lanka attempting to enter Australia and preventing measures initiated jointly by the Australian and Sri Lankan government and their progress, was also discussed at this meeting.
