Power generation at the Kelanitissa power plant has faced a problem.
Chief Secretary of the National Electricity Workers Association, Ranjan Jayalal said that this is due to a minor blast which occurred in a transformer at the plant.
In order to obtain more information with regards to this, News1st contacted the General Secretary of the National Electricity Workers Association, Ranjan Jayalal.
“On the 16th of January at around 5.30 a.m. The Kelanitissa power plant has since reported to be defunct due to a blast which occurred in the transformer in the generator. It is a big a damage. It will take about a month to restore the facility. There are allegations that the blast occurred due to the lack of maintenance in the power plant. We are requesting the Relevant authorities to take the necessary measures to find a solution to this matter.”
