Former captain, Mahela Jayawardene has entered history as the first Sri Lankan cricketer to exceed 11,000 test runs.
Jayawardene set this record while he was playing in the second innings of the third and final test match against Pakistan in Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
Mahela Jayawardene is thus ranked eighth in the world to exceed 11,000 test runs.
The Sri Lankans who posted 428 runs for 9 wickets in their first innings were able to restrict Pakistan to 341 on Sunday.
The Pakistan resumed play on Sunday with an overnight score of 291 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.
Abdur Rehman and Misbuh-al-huq who was already on 36 returned to the crease for the Pakistanis on Day 4.
Misbuh-al-huq recorded his 24th test half century, posting 63 runs for the team.
Asad Shafiq and Junaid Khan chipped in with 18 and 16 runs leaving Pakistan with a total of 341.
Dimuth Karunaratne and Kaushal Silva opened the 2nd innings for the Sri lankans earlier on Sunday.
Karunaratne was the 1st wicket to fall having obtained only 8 runs.
Sangakkara was dismissed by Rehman posting only 8 runs.
Kaushal Silva headed back to the Changing room for 36 runs.
Chandimal posted 18 runs for the Sri Lankans.
Sri lanka who appear to have given up the drivers seat, were 133 for 5 at stumps on Day 4 leading the Pakistanis by 220 runs.
