NWSDB workers launch trade union action

Western province workers of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board has withdrawn from maintenance work owing to a trade union action.

Co convenor of the Joint Trade Union Alliance Upali Rathnayake said the trade union action was commenced on Saturday morning based on several demands.

He further said that this would lead to their withdrawal from working overtime and maintenance activities.Meanwhile, the water levels of reservoirs belonging to the irrigation department is said to have risen.Director general of irrigation Badhra Kamaladasa said the levels have increased from 42 percent to 50 percent.
