Two steady knocks by skipper Anjelo Mathews and debutant Dilruwan Prera powered Sri Lanka to a first innings score of 428 runs on day two of the third and final test against Pakistan.
Pakistan who commenced their reply were 19 for no loss at stumps on Friday. Angelo Matthews and Prasanna Jayawardena returned to the crease at Sharjah on Friday morning.
Prasanna Jayawardena was the first to fall Friday for 35 runs, following a sixth wicket stand of 73 runs with skipper Angelo Matthews. Matthews went on to score his 13th test half-century today.
Matthews managed to score 91 runs before being undone by Junaid Khan. It was his fourth dismissal in the 90s in his test career. Debutant Dilruwa Perera who was picked primarily as an off spinner stunned the Pakistanis scoring a half century on debut. Perera who was on the verge of scoring a century was dismissed for 95 runs by Mohammad Talha .
Sri Lanka eventually declared their first innings on 428 runs for the loss of nine wickets.
