A rally by the Democratic party was held in Wadduwa on Thursday.
The rally was organised by the Panadura Electoral Organiser of the Democratic Party, Wimal Suraweera, and was held under the patronage of the leader of the party, Sarath Fonseka.
Speaking at the rally Sarath Fonseka expressed the following views,
“The shine of the pearl of the Indian Ocean has vanished. The pearl has become just another seed today and is a pearl no more. The citizens of our country had pride and self-respect. However, there is nothing of that left. Today, we are informed of crimes, violence against women, cases of child abuse that have progressed to the furthest extent. We have no hope for the future.”
The Kolonnawa Electorate Organiser of the Democratic Party, Susil Kindelpitiya also shared his views:“What is the government doing to the dhal you consume? The sugar? The dry fish? Not only that, but they have taxed coriander too. They have made you helpless. Think to yourself, can you journey forward with a government like this. Your children have no milk powder, but container loads of Heroin find their way to the country. The laws aren’t implemented against this.”
