The new headquarters of the Sri Lanka Army’s 52nd division in Mirusuvil was declared open by Secretary Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Wednesday. Jaffna Security Forces Commander Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe said that the headquarter was relocated in order to facilitate the handing over of land and buildings, previously occupied by security forces, back to their civilian owners in the Peninsula.
He added that they have already handed over 41 plots of land to civilian owners and have also constructed 39 houses for civilians. The headquarters of the 52nd Division which was declared open on Wednesday is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of Defence also opened the new additions to the ‘Thal Sevana’ holiday resort in Jaffna, a hospitality venture of the Sri Lanka Army.
The OPD and new ward complex at the Military Hospital in Palaly , Jaffna was also declared open on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, an event was held to present ‘Ranashura’ medals to members of the Special Forces Unit of the Sri Lanka Army in recognition of their services during the final stages of the war. Medals were awarded to over 700 SF personnel including the deceased and the injured.
