Police Headquarters said that 1349 complaints against police officers on duty have been lodged to the Inspector General of Police during 2013.
According to a notification released by the Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana, an open day will be implemented in order to receive complaints regarding the misconduct of police officers from the public. This has been in practice from five years ago, with 909 complaints lodged to the IGP by the public in 2009, 2654 complaints in 2010, 1890 complaints being received in 2011, and with 1645 complaints being lodged to the IGP in 2012.
