The Baduraliya hospital has reopened.
The media spokesperson of the Government Medical Officers Association, Dr. Naveen De Soysa, stated that doctors reported to work on Friday morning.
The hospital was closed since last Saturday due to threats that were received by staff from an individual who brought in a patient.
The patients at the hospital were then transferred to the Kalubowila General Hospital.
Several groups convened to discuss the reopening of the hospital at the Ministry of Health on Thursday.
Dr. Naveen De Soysa, stated that subsequent to the discussions a decision was arrived at to reopen the hospital.
The hunger strike which was held in order to force authorities to reopen the Baduraliya hospital concluded on Friday morning.
