Director General of Health of the Western Province, Dr. Amala Harsha de Silva says that measures have been taken to ensure the safety of hospital staff at the Baduraliya hospital.
He added that he had instructed the provincial health service director to seek the support of the police and ensure the safety of the staff.
He further said,
“The doctors cannot carry out the work at the hospital. The GMOA is saying that they don’t have adequate security, I have informed the provincial health director to take the support of the police in providing the security they need. The police has given a written assurance that they would provide the necessary security required by the staff. We are receiving immense support from the police at the moment. They also requested for more staff at the hospital and for that we are taking measures to deploy two more doctors to the hospital.”
