Police have found five children of the same family abandoned by their parents in a house in the Ihalagama region in Eppawala.

Police Media Spokesperson, SSP Ajith Rohana stated that steps are now underway to place the children under foster care. SSP Ajith Rohana also noted that the children were all in the age group of three to thirteen years.

He further pointed out that abandoning of children below the age of eighteen years is a punishable criminal offence.
