The carcass of a tusker  has been found in a farmland in the Walathapitiya area on Monday morning.

Our correspondent said that the tusker had been living in close proximity to the Buddangala Reserve and was the only one of its kind.

The tusker was discovered by residents in the Walathapitiya area in Ampara.

Residents had informed wild life authorities about deceased tusker. Wild life officials who arrived at the location were able to find three gunshot wounds on the body of the elephant.
