“Our ancestors were able to have three meals a day. However, today there only a few households in the country where people have three meals a day. There are instances where we come across people who have no vegetables in their meals.”

A public meeting of the Democratic Party took place at the Neluwa Public Grounds in Galle on Saturday.Speaking at the meeting, leader of the Democratic Party, Sarath Fonseka expressed the following views,

“Ninety five percent of the population have only two meals a day.”

Talking about children who were present at the meeting, Sarath Fonseka further said:

“Ask these children the same question. Eight out ten of these children will have only one meal. This is the development of the country and this is the miracle of Asia.”
