Speaker says anyone can witness parliamentary proceedings without prior approval

Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa announced in Parliament that starting from Friday anyone could witness parliamentary proceedings without prior approval.

The speaker said that this decision was taken at a party leaders meeting held on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Expenditure Head of the Ministry of Transport was taken up for debate on Friday.

 UNP MP Gayantha Karunathilaka opened the debate and charged that a number of SLTB depots had not paid EPF allowances to their employees while some had not paid the salaries of employees.

 Following this, Minister of Private Transport Services, C.B. Rathnayake responded on behalf of the government.

 TNA MP, M.A. Sumanthiran and DNA MP Sunil Handunnetti also joined the debate.
