Parliamentarian Manusha Nanayakkara expressed his views on the accusations and criticism of media in Parliament on Wednesday.

He said;“Today, it has come to a level where media institutions are taken to court when they raise accusations at one’s party or criticise one’s party. This is being done by none other than Mangala Samaraweera who prostituted the media. He has misused the historically important profession of the media in such a way that he charged Ranil Wickremesinghe of making agreements with the tigers and worked within the Ministry of Mass Media to show that Ranil Wickremesinghe was incapable.”

He added; “More recently he brought Channel 4 to Sri Lanka. Brought them inside Sirikotha and acted out a drama there. It is the same Mangala Samaraweera who is attempting to take anti-state opinions to the world, that filed a case in the Matara Court against the Sirasa Media Institution and attempted to bring the head of the Sirasa Media institution to court. Where is the freedom of the media?”
