An individual has been arrested in the Aluthwatte area in Udugama, Galle with a stock of Agarwood, locally known as Wallapatta.

Police said that over 20 kilogrammes of the plant was found in his possession without the necessary licence. The suspect is reported to be a thirty-eight-year-old resident of the Nakiyadeniya area in Galle, and is due to be produced before the Baddegama Magistrate today.

Agarwood is valued for its fragrance, and is used in the manufacture of perfumes.
