An individual living in the Maththegoda Sandunpura Housing Scheme had committed suicide by drinking poison, after having killed his wife.

The police said that he had killed his wife by stabbing her with a sharp object. The killing had taken place when the forty- year old woman was returning home after dropping their child off at Sunday school.

According to the police, after killing his wife, the man had drunk poison and died on admission to the Homagama hospital. Police say that the incident occurred owing to a family dispute.
