An expert symposium on the theme of national unity, was held in Kalmunai on Thursday. The symposium was held under the auspices of the General Secretary of the Citizens’ Front, MP J. Sri Ranga. This symposium, which saw the participation of a number of experts from various fields, university lecturers and students, was organised by the United Tamil Muslim Alliance.

At the event MP J. Sri Ranga spoke about the need of Tamil community to unite under one common goal. “I have already shown you what can be done even if you are in the opposition. At times when we are required to speak against the government, we do so. But there is a problem.”

“When they promise to build a road for people who need it and then take a commission off the top, we are unable to speak about it.”

“If the files are piling up then the work does not get done. To address this we should unite the Tamil community under one common goal. Stay true to this goal.”

“There is a need to build one organisation. An association of experts must be established. We must be able to influence matters through this association. Do not affiliate politics with this. The youth and the experts must unite and present their demands with one voice,” said General Secretary of the Citizens’ Front, MP J. Sri Ranga.
