Residents from Hingurakgoda in Polonnaruwa are living in discomfort owing to a caterpillar infestation in the area.

Residents charge that they are unable to reside in their homes due to the increasing numbers of caterpillars. Residents living in the vicinity of the Sathosa Storage land in Hingurakogda, from the Pinpara and the 31 colony areas have been plagued by the infestation. Moreover, our correspondent said that 25 houses have been affected in the area. Residents also say that they face difficulties in carrying out their daily chores due to caterpillars inhabiting the teak plantation in a reserve close by.

Our correspondent notes that the Sewagama area in Polonnaruwa has also been affected by this infestation.
