At an event organised to mark the anniversary of the President’s assumption of office, Chief Minister of the North Western Province, Dayasiri Jayasekara commented on the United National Party.

“I thought if one had gone to Sirikotha along with the parents of those who were killed or disappeared during 1988 and 1989, one could have asked Ranil Wickremesinghe, how these people disappeared.”

Chief Minister of North Western Province, Dayasiri Jayasekara said; “When heads of states and representatives from across the world arrived in the country and witnessed Colombo, a separate forum on the Human Rights Violations of the tigers took place in Sirikotha. It featured photographs of people reported missing. I thought if one had gone to Sirikotha along with the parents of those who were killed or disappeared during 1988 and 1989, one could have asked Ranil Wickremesinghe, how these people disappeared. This programme did nothing else but add another ten years for the UNP to remain in the opposition.”
