Professor from Cambridge to study Balangoda skeleton

A professor from the University of Cambridge in London has arrived in the country to conduct investigations on an ancient human skeleton.

The Department of Archaeology said that investigations have already begun in the Budugala area in Balangoda in this regard. The Director for the Sabaragamuwa Province Archaeology Department, Tissa Madurapperuma said that through these excavations they hope to gather more indepth knowledge of how old the human skeleton is, and other information.

In the meantime, preliminary examinations have revealed that the human skeleton was 10,000 years old.Furthermore, ancient tools made of stone and animal remains were found as well during excavations.
