Twenty one suspects have been arrested on charges of blocking the Kalmunai – Akkaraipattu main road in Nintavur for 36 hours due to clashes that occurred between STF personnel and villagers.

The Police Media Unit said that over 300 police officers were deployed to use tear gas to disperse the crowd earlier Tuesday.
Police noted that along with the suspects who lead the protest, three motor cycles and twenty bicycles have been taken into police custody.
