Over 100 houses in Hambantota go under water

Over 100 houses in Hambantota have been flooded following the overflow of the Walawe River after heavy rains.
Assistant Director of the Hambantota District Disaster Management Harsha Raveendra said that houses in the Waaduruppa, Ambalantota South and Thawaalwila areas had been flooded.
The Assistant Director said that steps would be taken to provide the residents with lunch on Sunday. 
Assistant Director Raveendra said that measures have been taken to widen the of the Walawe River to facilitate the draining of the flood-water.
