Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare has issued orders to the officers of the relevant officers to take steps to bring back those Sri Lankans who have travelled to Saudi Arabia illegally in search of employment.
Spokesperson of the Foreign Employment Bureau Deputy General Manager Managala Randeniya stated that approximately 1,500 Sri Lankans were unable to return to the country further to the common amnesty that was granted to all illegal migrant workers by the Saudi Government.
He added that these Sri Lankan migrant workers will be provided temporary residence at the Saudi Embassy and thereafter they will take measures to grant them freedom through the law.
