COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Irrigation says the Kalu Ganga remains at minor flood level in the Millakanda area.
Water levels in the Putupawula and Ellagawa areas also remain at flood-risk level.
Meanwhile, the Attanagalu Oya continues to pose a flood threat in Dunamale.
Residents living in low-lying areas nearby have been advised by the Irrigation Department to remain vigilant.
Landslide Warnings Remain in Effect for Several Districts
Landslide warnings issued for a number of Divisional Secretariat areas in six districts remain active.
The affected districts include Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Nuwara Eliya, Kegalle, and Ratnapura.
The National Building Research Organisation has urged residents in these areas to remain alert for possible landslides.
Red Evacuation Notices Issued for High-Risk Landslide Areas
Red evacuation notices issued due to heavy rainfall remain in force for several Divisional Secretariat divisions in two districts.
Evacuation notices In the Kegalle District remain active for Dehiowita, Deraniyagala, and Ruwanwella areas.
In the Ratnapura District, red notices have been issued for Ratnapura, Ayagama, Kuruwita, and Eheliyagoda.
In addition, early landslide warnings have also been issued for the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, and Nuwara Eliya.
The Disaster Management Centre says 28,933 people from 7,482 families have been affected due to adverse weather conditions.
A total of 1,731 people are currently being sheltered at 18 safe locations.
The centre also reported that 836 houses have sustained partial damage.
