Thilina Madhusankha Elected Unopposed as Basnayake Nilame of Kataragama Devalaya

COLOMBO(News 1st); Thilina Madhusankha was elected unopposed as the new Basnayake Nilame of the historic Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devalaya.
This was based on the nominations of the Kiri Vehera Raja Maha Viharaya and Sri Abhinawarama Viharaya.
Thilina Madhusankha is currently serving as the Basnayake Nilame of the Devinuwara Uthpalawanna Sri Vishnu Maha Dewalaya and has been serving as the Acting Basnayake Nilame of the historic Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devalaya for the past three months.
The election was held at the Monaragala District Secretariat Auditorium under the patronage of District Secretary A. G. Nishantha and Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs R. M. G. Senaratne.
